DARK STAR's same-titled debut will be reissued for the first time on vinyl!

The classic debut album of the melodic NWOBHM band, originally released in 1981, finally reissued on vinyl!

Release date: May 31, 2024.

It will be available on 180gr heavyweight black vinyl limited to 400 copies, and 180gr heavyweight transparent red vinyl limited to 100 copies, including insert with liner notes and lyrics, with a new mastering for vinyl by Bart Gabriel.

Dark Star were formed in Birmingham (the birthplace of Heavy Metal) in 1978. They started making a  name with their iconic song "Lady of Mars" when it was included in the compilation "Metal for Muthas Volume II, Cut Loud" in 1980. The debut album "Dark Star" was recorded by Rik Staines (vocals, keyboards), Dave Harrison (guitars), Bob Key (guitars), Mark Oseland (bass) and Steve Atkins (drums) in just a few days, in the first months of 1981. It was produced by Dark Star and Pete Chalcraft, including 8 songs.

Dark Star broke up in 1982, while writing their sophomore album. In 1987, Rik Staines, Dave Harrison, and Bob Key finished the second album with the help of Dave Keates and Simon Atkins, and it was released under the title "Real to Reel".
